City of Novosibirsk is bidding farewell to Elena Yohimovich, an honored cultural worker of Russian Federation, principal of children’s art school №23 in Novosibirsk who passed away at the age of 72. Time and place of the funeral were announced.

Elena Yohimovich, an honored cultural worker of Russian Federation and principal of children’s art school №23 passed away in Novosibirsk on August the 3rd 2021.

Elena Yohimovich was a daughter of WWII veteran, soviet writer and journalist David Yohimovich. She graduated from Music College in Novosibirsk in 1971 and from Kemerovo State University of Culture and Arts – in 1981, she dedicated most of her life to arts.

An excellent teacher and coordinator, accompanist, leader of an amateur academic choir. Her total work experience in this field was 53 years.

Elena Yohimovich presided over the art school for three decades, she was there from the very beginning.

Thanks to her dedicated and responsible attitude, her school has become one of the best municipal educational institutions in the field of culture. As her friends and family say, “For her, the school wasn’t just a workplace, it was her entire life”.

The mayor's office of Novosibirsk expressed condolences regarding the death of Elena Yohimovich.

“Elena Yohimovich has dedicated more than 50 years to teaching, 30 of them she was a school principal of children’s art school №23. She managed to gather around her a highly professional staff and create strong artistic traditions. Thanks to her hard work, dedication and highly responsible attitude her school has become one of the best municipal educational institutions in the field of culture, and she has educated several generations of our city’s great citizens”, - her eulogy says.

Natalya Yaroslavtseva, Novosibirsk district Minister of Culture, has also conveyed her condolences.

“Elena initiated and actively supported the development of artistic teams at her school; many of them not just won various prestigious competitions more than once but also have been taking part in important city and district projects. She has also received two "Children and the City" awards for her educational work from the Novosibirsk City Hall. Three artistic teams of her school bear the title of “exemplary”.

Elena Yohimovich is part of a golden cultural resource of our region. Her untimely death is an irreparable loss not just for children’s art school № 23, but for the entire district. My deepest condolences to her family and friends” – Yaroslavtseva wrote.

The parting from Elena Yohimovich will take place at Zayeltsovskoe cemetery , main gate on August 6th, 16:00.
